Hearing & Balance Care (Audiology)
The audiology department at North Okaloosa Physician Group focuses on health issues related to hearing and balance. Audiologists provides medical care for common health problems such as hearing loss and balance conditions such as:
- Ear infections
- Inner ear issues
- Tinnitus
- Swimmers ear
- Dizziness
- Vertigo
- Motion sickness
Audiologists work collaboratively with ear, nose and throat doctors and perform detailed exams to determine the cause and extent of patients' hearing and balance problems. The audiology team develops a treatment plan to address balance issues, hearing loss and improve communication, including:
- Aural rehabilitation
- Hearing assessments and vestibular (balance) testing
- Hearing aid evaluations and fittings, and assistive listening devices
- Cochlear implants
- Hearing protection, such as custom ear plugs
- Ear tube surgery
The audiology department also provides patients with education for long-term management and assistive devices, as well as referrals to specialized doctors, therapists, speech-language pathologists and other clinicians for multidisciplinary healthcare.
