Dr. Vicente Mendez is board certified in Internal Medicine. Most often, internal medicine physicians dedicate their practice to adult medicine. Capable of handling multiple illnesses, internal medicine doctors provide care in their office or clinic, during hospital stays including intensive care and in nursing homes. Special training provides the foundation to diagnose and treat the patient with severe chronic illnesses and situations where several different illnesses occur at the same time.
Dr. Mendez has special medical interests in rheumatology, cardiology and preventive medicine. He feels that education is of primary importance in his relationship with his patients. Dr. Mendez is a native of Cuba. He medical school was completed when he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Instituto Tecgnologico de Santo Domingo. Dr. Mendez began his training in the United States as a house physician at Hialeah General Hospital in Hialeah, Fla. He completed a residency program in Anatomical Pathology in 1987 and one in Internal Medicine in 1990, both in Johnstown, Pa. Dr. Mendez served two terms as the Chief of the Department of Medicine at UPMC Bedford Memorial in Everett, Pa. After 20 years of practicing medicine in Pennsylvania, he and his family moved to Crestview, where he joined the Medical Staff at North Okaloosa Medical Center. Dr. Mendez is fluent in English and Spanish .
